Manchester United have announced they have no intention of listening to offers for 21-year-old winger Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid are rumoured to be interested in the youngster following his recent exit talk, but the club insist the player is not for sale.

Manchester United have released a club statement insisting they have no intention of selling want-away winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 21-year-old has told the press he wants a transfer to Spain following his much-publicised spat with Wayne Rooney during England and Portugal's World Cup quarter-final. However, the club have made it clear they have no intention of selling the 21-year-old despite his recent exit talk.

"The club can confirm there is no possibility of Cristiano being sold." read an official statement from MUFC.

"Cristiano recently signed a contract until 2010 and the club expects him to honour that contract. The club will not listen to any offers for Cristiano."

Press speculation is suggesting that Sir Alex Ferguson has placed Carlos Queiroz, the club's assistant manager, in charge of persuading Ronaldo to stay with United. The former Real Madrid manager enjoys a close relationship with the Portuguese youngster and is believed to have undertaken pleasant and positive talks with the player.

The news will come as a blow to Real Madrid who had reportedly been lining up a £18million bid for the player's services.
