Newly promoted Alfreton Town have rushed to get Dave Rushbury on board as a Director of Football. The ex-Chesterfield boss has been drafted in for experience needed to help The Reds push on in the UniBond Premier League.

Wayne Bradley The Reds chairman said, "Now we have won our way to a higher level of the game, we feel there is a need to add weight to the management of the team and Dave Rushbury’s responsibility will be to reshape footballing matters throughout the senior side of the club and help shape the first team for next season’s task."

Rushbury is to add experience to the management duo Dave Lloyd and Charlie Williamson. Bradley went on to say on the official UniBond site, "There is a lot at stake next season and our aim is to finish as high as possible and hopefully take advantage of the restructuring of the top level of the non league game and gain a Conference position./

“There is no disguising the fact that I am delighted to have tempted a division two manager to step down and accept a challenge at non league level. It speaks volumes for our club’s long term ambitions and for the vision that David Rushbury has shown in recognising them. "Dave has a very impressive cv, a wealth of experience and is a fitness fanatic whose ideas will give us a dimension of fitness we have never had before.

"This appointment will give us a massive new dimension. Dave’s knowledge of the Football League is immense as is his contact list within that frame and while he is relishing the task of developing players out of North Street into the League, we will also be looking to recruit people the other way as well.

"Our fans can have every confidence in the development of the management side and we can now look forward to some interesting additions to an already capable squad. Supporters should also be able to look forward to a competence of football which is normally only reserved for Football League stadiums".
