Weir is not happy after Berti Vogts criticized him and Christian Daily after the draw against the Faroe Islands saying they were to blame for the goals that were conceded.

Everton Manager David Moyes was also upset by the comments towards his player and is said to have written to the SFA personally to voice his opinion.

An SFA spokesman has also confirmed that they have received a letter from David Weir saying he didn't want to play for Scotland in the near future.  But they are still awaiting a reason for this.

With Scotland lacking in defence this could mean a first team place for on Form Dundee defender Lee Wilkie who has been outstanding in his last few match's.  If Wilkie doesn't get a game then Vogts could go for Steven Pressley from Hearts who has only played one game for Scotland under Berti Vogts which was against France.

The person tipped the most to be in the team is Motherwell teenager James McFadden after a string of good performances.  Especially his performance against Celtic.

Vogts took in the Motherwell V Dundee game this week and it is said he was watching James McFadden and Lee Wilkie but during the match he was also impressed with Dundee player Barry Smith after a good performance and it is said Barry could possibly be ready for a call up.
