Notts County boss Gary Mills has told the world that goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall can be obtained on a free transfer in a bid to slash the club's wage bill and prepare for life in Division Three.

The 24-year-old refused a 20% pay cut and is one of the top young goalies in the Football League. Darren Ward won't be back up to full fitness for a while, so he could prove an adequate replacement.
