Not sure whether he launched that pre season draw for sponsors to put their name on the away shirt, but think now that was John Drysdale. Maybe he was instrumental in securing other sponsors/backers for the main home shirt, youths etc... perhaps hospitality boxes too. Just guessing, no idea really...
On a side note I couldn't help but notice the high level of trackside advertising at Cliftonhill the other week - lots of local (and some national) businesses and organisations there.

The trackside advertising point is a valid one. Apart from the addition of a few Ladbrokes boards which were put up at the start of the season due to them sponsoring the league and the Sammy's Shelter/ @#$%& Cancer board, I don't think any of the boards have changed since Rangers were in our league. (There was a Pamela Nash MP board removed for obvious reasons)
The question is, have all these companies renewed their sponsorship twice or is it just that the stadium company haven't bothered taking the boards down? If it's the latter, then we can't be making any money from the trackside advertising.

No idea how much we take in from this (and as you say it's odd that boards have been there for a while).
To think back to the old Broomfield - ah the days of Watson's garage, Dalziel (with the horse on it's back), Giscol Bricks, Cairnhill Cash and Carry, Cafe La Fiesta, Tango Cafe and Grill, Colston Garage, RJ Cross, Christie's Bakers...
It would bring a tear to a glass eye!

I can remember the first season in the stadium, the trackside boards were full - front and back, the back of the 3 small stands were full with advertising, above the doors into the concourses had advertising, the concourses themselves had advertising, the walls in the corner of the ground had advertising and there was A-frame boards behind both goals.

<> Maybe the game was that dull it sort of meant your eyes drifted to what else was in & around the ground...
So in effect the new/current owners have a cunning plan... less advertising means we have to concentrate on the game more and not be distracted by pesky advertising...

Valid point about the volume of pitch side advertising at Rovers compared to Airdrie .I think the pitch side adverising has been badly neglected over several years but perhaps it is something the club and stadium owners will be looking at just dont borrow the Rovers fall over new terracing advertising boards and their bags sorry buckets of sand.How many buckets of sand were there ?

<> What was that all about?! Although I was at the game I was over in the "stand" area so didn't see any buckets. Were they:-
A) Propping up the advertising "hoardings" ?!
There to put out any situation that got a bit too shall we say... heated?! 
C) There to cover over any sickness spouting from the travelling support from ML6 should the result not have gone our way?!
