I’ve never started a match report in this way before I usually try to be more subtle, but all I can think to say is “What a lot of P!sh that was!” 

Airdrie started the game within Lilley and MacDonald both ruled out with a sickness bug, In stepped Stallard and Buchanan. Mclaren and Donnelly made it to the bench.

Airdrie from kick off looked as though they had never played a professional game of football in their lives, it was men against boys and it only took five minutes for the men to open the scoring.

A free kick to the far post (have we mentioned this before in a report? Seems a little déjà vu’ish) found not one but two Cowdenbeath players in plenty space, both would have had the time and space to open the scoring. It was Miller who stuck Linton’s free kick in to the back of the net.

I really would love to say things got better from there, but the truth is they didn’t we were totally disjointed. It could have been 2-0 in the second half if it wasn’t for Arthur, Stallard pulled back Stewart in the box and the penalty was awarded. Arthur saved McKenzie’s low shot and then made an instinctive save for the rebound. That was Airdrie’s highlight of the first half we should have built on that we should have taken some confidence from it, instead our disjointed performance continued we couldn’t make a pass, our crosses only found a Cowdenbeath head or went out of play and the only bonus at the end of the first half was we were only 1-0 down.

Things didn’t improve in the second half, Cowdenbeath dominated our one highlight of this half was when McLaren took a short free kick and Warren forced Flynn in to a great save.

Things got worse from then on in, Warren took a hissy fit, clashing with McKenzie he decided that to top off a poor performance he would lift his hand and shove McKenzie, when that wasn’t enough for an early bath he decided to shove his head against McKenzie’s he got his wish and the ref sent him packing.

Down to ten men Airdrie went 2-0 down when Coult is sent through by McKenzie. Coult first shot is blocked the rebound come off his legs and goes in. The loudest applause of the day from the Airdrie support is reserved for ex-Diamond Jamie Stevenson who acknowledges the crowd in return.

Cowdenbeath finish a fine performance on 86 minutes when Coult scores.

I would like to repeat what I said above, “we were pish” but Cowdenbeath put on a very professional performance to win the match, something that seems to be lacking with us at the moment.

going to be a long season, i was one that said Boyle must go ,i still say it after watching yesterday,not a clue.players obviously do not have any respect.

The thing is I only wanted to see some progress against a team we couldn't beat last season, (I accept we lost our central pairing of Lilley and MacDonald) If I had seen that I wouldn't have been as critical, but we looked as if we have gone backwards and that's what's so upsetting.

Yes Chris it was as you sum up. My puzzle is why Cook gets to start after so many poor games with one good free kick seeming to keep him in. He was never very rated at Stirling and even Div. 2 would have been a stretch for him again. Keeps drifting in but is that JB's tactics? Lynch and Blockley were out passed yet again. The Ref. missed McKenzies' wee fly kick out at warren which could have been a Red card but his over reaction was bound to be seen by the blind linesman eventually. Why is McLaren played up front and then reshuffled yet again?
We were well beaten by them l;ast season and so it continues. mind you I did not think we would have any points at this stage and Dumbarton have only scored one goal!Just as well I have already bought my seson ticket.

Why did Jimmy keep shouting to the team to pass to Cook, they would have more luck passing to me sitting in the stand!

We've lost 2 league games on the bounce. We're going to lose games & more than our fair share this season.

I appreciate the manner of the loss may be hard to take, but im still sticking by saying that if we finish 8th then job done.

As long as Dumbarton and Hamilton don't pick up any points then i will happily accept six points for the full season and still get a season ticket for next year.

But i don't walk to walk away from a match feeling like I've just watched a performance from the schools cup final.

Exactly, how many times did we say last season that when Stevenson was played on the wing, he looked a shade of the player he was at centre mid. Must not be just a JB thing seeing Stevo as a winger!!!
