 Airdrie’s 100% record came to an end on Saturday as we lost 1 Vs. 2 against Dunfermline. I for one was disappointed at the loss but that was only because we had done so well in the first half. 

Jimmy Boyles was once again unable to select from Willie McLaren, Ryan Donnelly and Kieron Stallard all missing with various injuries and illness.

Airdrie Lined Up –

Arthur,
Hart, MacDonald, Lilley, Warren,
 Bain, Blockley, Lynch, Cook (Griffin 64),
John Boyle (Di Giacomo 27), Jack Boyle (Wright 84).

Subs Not Used: Duncan, Barclay.

The first half started pretty even, where Dunfermline had maybe more of the possession Airdrie hit on the counter attack and made more scoring opportunities, the first fell to John Boyle. Jamie Bain put in a cross that on any other day would have been put in the back of the net; John Boyles volley in front of the net went sailing over the bar. It should have been goal number one but the main thing is we made the space and John Boyle was in the right place at the right time.

His goal came on twenty six minutes, Alan Cook floated in a free kick to the back post, that looked like it was heading out the park, but Nathan Blockley snuck around the defence to header back across goal. John Boyle knocked it in but in doing so injured himself. Boyle was replaced by Paul Di-Giacomo and we lost some of the attacking pace Boyle and Boyle were providing.

The second half was a tough one for us, we made some half chances but nothing like the chances made in the first half and although we battled hard Dunfermline’s full time fitness was beginning to tell.  On the sixty fourth minute Andy Barrowman rattled the cross bar.

From here on it was all Dunfermline and even so it took until the eightieth minute for them to get the equaliser, ex-Diamond Joe Cardle’s corner wasn’t cleared at the back post and Dowie made the game level.

Dunfermline’s winner came four minutes later a cross from another ex-Diamond, Ryan Wallace fired a cross to the same post and Stephen Husband secured the points for Dunfermline.

I’m not going to complain about the effort or endeavour that went in to this match Airdrie played well and were unlucky not to have taken a point. My only concern is the cross ball to the far post we’re not defending them well enough and that’s more than Saturday’s match it has cost us.

GOOD PERFORMANCE ?GOALS CAME AFTER MANAGER TOOK OFF THE TALLER COOK FOR THE SMALLER GRIFFIN ?HEIGHT SEEMS A PROBLEM AREA IN THE TEAM ?CAN JIMMY NOT SEE THIS
