Airdrie confirm loan extension (Willie McLachlan)

Airdrie have confirmed that Willie McLachlan will remain with the Diamonds until the end of the season. Willie has found himself in at the deep end since joining from Glasgow Rangers on a months loan and has held his head high and performed well. Airdrie haven't been beat in the league since Willie's signing in December, his inclusion in the squad has enabled Mark Smyth to move in to the centre of defence and the resulting run has left us only one point behind the pack at the bottom of the Irn Bru First Division.

Great news.

Fantastic player and is not shy when it comes to tackling. Just what is needed.

Good news.

The wingers are better with Hazely and McLachlan who both can play the ball to feet, overlap and get back to defend. On Saturday (after a wee bit of a shaky start by Hazely) I thought they both played excellently.

Also Smyth is better at centre half than at full back

I'd tend to agree that we need another midfielder but again on Saturday I thought McKenna and McDonald did well and we have McLaughlin chasing them for a place. McKenna was fairly snapping into tackles and the unfairly maligned McDonald is comfortable taking the ball in to feet which helps prevent this aimless punting up the park; if only McDondald would move it on a bit quicker sometimes, but overall I think he's doing the business.

the boys came on leaps n bounds. Great news!
I was sitting next to sandy Jardine at the game on Sat & he was highly complimentary of him. Lets make the most of him while we have him cos im sure he will be back at Murray Park next season

I don't think it's a coincidence that Airdrie's good run and Dougal's return to top form started when Willie slotted in at right back for us. I don't think he's been on a losing Airdrie side. Long may it continue. Excellent news that he's here for the rest of the season.

Can do no more than echo the comments of everyone else. Very impressed by Willie's play, considering how young he is.

Well done, Kenny.

mclachlan, and that was a heck of display from him on Saturday there, i hope he can replicate that level regularly for us till the end of the season.

Spitzy, you're right mate, he has helped Dougall a lot down the right, Dougall acknowledged that today in the papers.

Any team who has been promoted recently has had a decent loan signing somewhere in the team.
I'd say promotion was beyond us, but it doesn't mean we can't put a good run together, and Willie will certainly help there.
