Young Journalist Competition

March 7 2007

Airdrie United Supporters Trust is launching a competition for budding young journalists. The competition will be open to all local Primary and Secondary Schools in the area.

The entries will be divided into two age groups i.e. Primary School pupils and Secondary School pupils. Entrants will be asked to write a match report of the game between Airdrie United and Livingston F.C., which will be played on Saturday 10th March 2007 at Excelsior Stadium.

Kickoff is at 3.00p.m. Entries should be handed into the Trust Information point on the concourse, or to the club shop, the following Saturday – 17th March 2007. Mark Sugden, Sports journalist, of the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser has agreed to judge the entries.

The winner from each group will be invited along to the press box in the stadium on Saturday 3rd April 2007, and will have the opportunity to interview their favourite player and have their photograph taken with the player.

In addition, the entry judged best overall will be published in the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser. It not expected that the pupils should take part through the school, but I would be pleased if you would pass on details of the competition to your teachers and pupils. Full details can be found on the Supporters Trust web page at www.a-u-s-s.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk and in this week’s Advertiser.

In the meantime, many thanks for your assistance.
