If you had said only a matter of weeks ago that RMI would go in to this re-arranged fixture looking for a hat-trick of victories then you would have simply been laughed at. However, that's the unfamiliar position that RMI will find themselves in tomorrow evening.
The incredible recovery of form from RMI under the management of Steve Bleasdale has seen them double their points tally for the season, going from the seven points collected by Phil Starbuck and Geoff Lutley to two wins and a draw in Bleasdale's first few games in charge.
The RMI boss is looking to bring in a few more players in time for the encounter with Canvey Island, but it may be more of a matter of should he change a winning side that has reclaimed some much needed pride for the club as a whole after a previously dire season.
Midfielder Gareth Stoker may claim a place on the bench after being sidelined through injury for the past few games, although it's unlikely that he'll be in the starting line-up. Bleasdale has an otherwise full strength squad to choose from as Leigh look to continue to salvage their lost pride from the past few months and maybe, just maybe, complete the greatest of escapes.
