RMI look set to remain in the Nationwide Conference next season, despite finishing second from bottom, after crisis club Margate accepted demotion to the new Conference South division because of problems with their arrangements for their home ground next season.
Margate have spent this season sharing with former Conference outfit Dover Athletic, but that option was ruled out, and the failure to obtain planning permission to upgrade their Hartsdown Park home to Conference standards means that demotion was their only option.
Should it be confirmed then RMI will remain in the Conference, with Kettering Town making a lateral move across the footballing pyramid to play in Conference North next season.
