Shrews game set to be moved?

Shrewsbury Town

Following the FA Cup exploits of Conference rivals Aldershot Town and Gravesend & Northfleet, there are hopes that the scheduled Conference game between Leigh RMI and Shrewsbury Town can be moved from a weeknight to a Saturday afternoon. With the Second Round of the FA Cup set to take place on Saturday 6th December, it means that both RMI and Shrewsbury will be without a game as scheduled opponents for that day, Gravesend and Aldershot respectively, are both through to the second round of the competition.

The game between RMI and Shrewsbury was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday 7th October but was moved because of the international commitments of several of Shrewsbury's side. The game is now set to take place on Tuesday 18th November but it is hoped that common sense will prevail and the game can now instead take place on Saturday 6th October.

With local Premiership side Bolton Wanderers away to Fulham that day, and the Rugby League Ashes series finished by then, along with an increased away support, it is hoped that a large crowd would be at Hilton Park if the game was scheduled for that day.
