Former Leigh RMI striker Dino Maamria has joined American side Charleston Battery from Stevenage Borough. Maamria moved to Stevenage from Leigh in the 2002-03 season.

Maamria, who was an established fan favourite in his time at Leigh, scored 24 goals playing for both RMI and Stevenage last season.

Now, after being granted a work permit, the former Burnley and Doncaster man made his move to the Battery in the United States of America, a side who have enjoyed a close relationship with RMI in the past, with former RMI and Bolton Wanderers defender Nicky Spooner being a former Battery captain after a short spell there between his two spells at RMI. Such is the relationship between the two clubs following the transfer of Spooner that the official Battery Supporters' Club even sponsored an RMI player for the whole of the following season!

In other transfer news, former RMI goalkeeper Craig Dootson has turned down a move to Conference newcomers Accrington Stanley. The 24-year-old has decided to stay with non-league outfit Stalybridge Celtic, under the management of former Leigh assistant manager Dave Miller.
