STUART RUDD

Prolific striker Stuart Rudd joined Leigh Genesis on 2nd February 2011 from Welsh side Rhyl, for whom he'd scored six goals in eleven starts earlier in the 2010/2011 season.

In a remarkable career in non-league, Rudd has scored goals wherever he has played having begun his career as a youth with hometown club Wigan Athletic.

30 goals in just 20 outings for Daisy Hill (then named Westhoughton Town) and later 22 goals in 20 appearances for Burscough brought him to the attention of Skelmersdale United where he worked alongside current Genesis boss Alan Kershaw and broke a nigh-on sixty year old club record with an incredible 230 goals in 315 games before joining FC United of Manchester in the summer of 2006, going on to score 55 goals in 83 United appearances over the course of two seasons. Rudd later joined Bradford Park Avenue, Witton Albion and Salford City before helping Guiseley to promotion to the Blue Square North in the 2009/2010 season ahead of joining Rhyl.

Rudd made his Leigh debut on Saturday 5th February 2011 in a 1-1 draw away to Woodley Sports in the Evo-Stik League First Division North, with Rudd scoring Leigh's equaliser with a header from a Sam Fairhurst corner. His second goal for Leigh came in a 3-2 loss to former club Skelmersdale United on 22nd March 2011, a landmark strike that took Rudd to the 400 mark in senior football.
