Leigh Genesis manager Mark Maddox has added some much-needed experience to his young side with the signing of thirty year old former Everton defender Adam Farley.

Farley was recently set to move to Evo-Stik Premier League side Burscough, but has instead opted to join Leigh as a former Altrincham team mate of Maddox and assistant Gary Scott.

The defender began his career with Everton and made one first team appearance in a fixture against Derby County in February 1999, before being released in the summer of 2000 after suffering a fractured cheekbone in an Under 19's fixture against Crystal Palace.

After leaving Altrincham, Farley spent spells with Burscough and Droylsden before spending several seasons with Marine, and is in line to make his Leigh debut in Tuesday night's fixture away to Harrogate Railway Athletic.

With Farley joining Leigh, two Genesis players have been released to look for new clubs in the shape of Kieran Molyneux and Simon Pendlebury.

Molyneux, who has appeared as both a centre back and striker, made a total of eight appearances for Leigh, scoring one goal in the 2-1 defeat to Warrington last month and disappointingly collecting two red cards in that time. The first came for a second bookable offence on his full debut in a 3-0 defeat to Wakefield in August before being dismissed in last month's 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Norton & Stockton Ancients.

Former Atherton Collieries and Ashton Athletic defender Pendlebury (below) leaves Leigh after making four Genesis appearances, with both players leaving with the club's best wishes.
