Leigh Genesis man Rick Gleave is in contention for a national award after being nominated by TV star Tim Lovejoy (pictured) as one of five candidates to receive the prestigous 'E.ON Player of the Round' title.

Gleave was nominated for the award after scoring a ninety-sixth minute winner for nine-man Genesis in their thrilling 4-3 FA Cup First Qualifying Round victory away to Rossendale United earlier this month.

The FA panel comprises FA Cup hero Ricky George, E.ON’s Executive Director Graham Bartlett, BBC Radio 5 live presenter Mark Chapman, The Daily Star’s Sports Editor Howard Wheatcroft and TV personality and FATV presenter Tim Lovejoy, who put forward Gleave as his candidate for the title.

Supporters can cast their vote at TheFA.com, the FA's official website, here, with supporters having until midday on Thursday 23rd September to cast their votes.

- After Gleave's heroics in the previous round, Genesis have been drawn away to Northern League side Norton & Stockton Ancients in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round, with the tie to take place this coming Saturday (25th September) with a 3pm kick off. There are a limited number of executive coach seats to and from the game for supporters to purchase at £15 each, with more information available by e-mailing mary.croasdale@leighgenesis.com or calling 07800 874 831.
