Crilly makes the grade!

It has been confirmed that Leigh Genesis' new home at Crilly Park will be hosting Evo-Stick Division One North football next season after the ground passed an inspection by league officials this afternoon.

The club would sincerely like to thank the army of volunteers from both Leigh Genesis and Atherton Laburnum Rovers that have put in a huge amount of effort in recent weeks to ensure that the ground would pass today's inspection with flying colours.

Work has gone on to install new perimeter fencing around the ground, a new toilet block, improvements to the turnstiles and the area around them, general signage being erected around the ground, the terrace rails have all been repainted, the pitch has been re-seeded and a general tidying up of the physio room, changing rooms and outside areas.

Genesis chairman Alan Leach was understandably delighted with the news.

"To complete all of the work that was presented it to us by the previous league inspection is a huge credit to all involved".

"I would like to put on record my thanks to all of those that have assisted us in achieving today's result and look forward to welcoming supporters to our new ground next season".

Although all the work required by the league has now been completed, efforts are still ongoing to improve the general look of the ground, with a complete re-painting of the new stand next on the list along with a renewal of the ground's floodlights and PA system.

I think they must have heard the threats on the grapevine as I don't think it was ever in doubt!

Fixtures aren't out until July but plenty to be going on with until then - pre-season for one!

Think the floodlights are in the next few weeks, PA system is an ongoing thing at the minute I think.

Is it going to be brand new floodlights or just upgrading the current ones didnt think they needed touching to be honest.

They've actually been there 19 years apparently which surprised me as they look good, as you say. A couple of them need realigning towards the pitch and they're getting re-wired so nowt major to be honest.
