Saturday's comfortable 2-0 win over Trafford saw Leigh Genesis climb to sixth position in the UniBond League First Division North table, and Genesis boss Garry Flitcroft has underlined his delight at his side's form.

"We totally dominated them in the first half, and should have been 4-0 up by half-time. We then went on to create chance after chance in the second half, scoring two and having one disallowed. The lads were fantastic, and on another day we could have won by six or seven".

The weekend victory maintained Leigh's unbeaten home record this season, with five wins and a draw from six games at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium being added to September's 3-2 win over Warrington Town that took place at Chorley's Victory Park. Understandably, Flitcroft is delighted with his side's form, though keen to keep their feet on the ground.

"We're unbeaten at home so far this season, and the lads are flying at the moment, with confidence really high throughout the side. It was an outstanding performance on Saturday, but in particular Tom Ince, Karl Munroe, Kris King and Dale Whitham were stand-out players."

One quirk of this season's fixture list has seen Genesis already play away fixtures against four of the current top five teams, yet none have visited the LSV yet, bar Skelmersdale United's FA Trophy visit, which ended in a resounding 4-1 victory for the hosts. It is a prospect that excites Flitcroft, with Colwyn Bay and FC Halifax Town set to visit in coming weeks, along with the FA Trophy tie against Redditch United.

"We're currently focusing on climbing in to the play-off positions at the moment and, with games in hand on several of the sides above us, along with home advantage still to come against those sides, our home form has helped our confidence no end".
