Red-ditch letter for Genesis

Leigh Genesis’ reward for their thumping 4-1 victory over league rivals Skelmersdale United at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium is a mouthwatering tie against Blue Square North side Redditch United.

Leigh fell behind within the first two minutes of Saturday's Second Qualifying Round tie, but hit back to score four goals without reply in a resounding LSV victory.

The sides last met in January 2008, when a goal with just five minutes remaining saw Redditch run out 1-0 victors at Hilton Park.

The FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round tie will take place at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium on Saturday 21st November with a 3pm kick off, with admission details to be confirmed in due course.

As a result of Leigh's FA Trophy progress, the UniBond League First Division North game against Woodley Sports will have to be re-scheduled.

Don't think fitness will be an issue, would be surprised if Redditch train any more than our lads. Will be a good footballing test though.

oh i was just saying our lads might be fitter than theres but it will be a good test to see how far we have come to be playing against a team two divisions above, and with £4,000 up for grabs there is no bigger incentive

The thought that ours would be fitter hadn't even entered the equation, especially when you think of the occasions we've been over-run in midfield this season.

well if there club are down near the bottom and things are not right behind the scenes, then we must have a realistic chance of making the first round proper

Let's not forget that there is a division between us as well though, so in the region of 30-40 league places. Will take a mammoth effort to even get a replay.
