Leigh Genesis are back at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) when rivals Prescot Cables are the visitors for a 3pm kick off.

It's the second Genesis game at the LSV in only a matter of days, following hot on the heels of Wednesday night's remarkable 6-1 victory over neighbours Warrington Town in the First Round of the UniBond League Challenge Cup.

Despite making eight changes to the side that were defeated 3-1 in the league at FC Halifax Town last weekend, Leigh were convincing winners in midweek, with Chris Thompson scoring four second half goals in a record Genesis victory.

Prescot also had a huge boost to their confidence in the same competition earlier in the week when they upset the odds to defeat Colwyn Bay, high-flying in the league, 3-1 on Merseyside on Tuesday night. However, Cables' league form has seen a huge slump in recent weeks, losing four league games in a row, including a 1-0 defeat to strugglers Rossendale United, since impressively defeating local rivals Skelmersdale United at the end of August.

Although Leigh lost 2-0 at Valerie Park in January, Saturday's meeting marks the first encounter in Leigh between the sides since the curtain was brought down on Leigh's former home at Hilton Park, with the iconic ground seeing goals from Jordan Stepien and Josh Wilson defeat Prescot 2-1 in torrential rain in September 2008.

Garry Flitcroft's selection options have been handed a boost with the return from suspension of centre back Karl Munroe, who has now completed the three match ban he received for his red card at Lancaster City last month, while versatile defender Matt Carlisle was an impressive debutant against Warrington after signing from Bolton Wanderers.

Thompson's four goals in midweek, added to a brace from Chris Baguley, also poses a welcome headache for Flitcroft in terms of choosing his strike pairing, with Jordan Stepien lining up alongside Matt Jansen last weekend, with the quartet responsible for an impressive sixteen goals so far this season between them.

Tickets for Saturday's encounter are on sale now at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium and will be available up until the 3pm kick off, costing £8 for adults, £5 for over 65's and students and just £2 each for under 18's.
