Four further friendlies have been added to Leigh Genesis' pre-season programme for the summer of 2009, with the visit of Bolton Wanderers to the Leigh Sports Village Stadium being followed just a week later by Blackburn Rovers.
With the fixture against Bolton Wanderers Reserves taking place on Tuesday 21st July, Blackburn Rovers visit Leigh a week later on Tuesday 28th July.
Rovers Reserves recently signed a deal to play all of their home fixtures at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium and as such it was almost inevitable that Blackburn would be visiting Leigh, especially when considering that Genesis boss Garry Flitcroft and current players Matt Jansen and Stephen Drench are all-ex Rovers players.
Sandwich between the visits of two of our Premier League neighbours is a trip to UniBond League Division One South side Witton Albion, who were relegated with Genesis from the UniBond Premier League next season, on Saturday 25th July.
Saturday 1st August sees an attractive trip to Cumbria to face UniBond Premier League outfit Kendal Town before an away fixture to West Lancashire League side Turton on Tuesday 4th August.
Leyther_Matt You can get a train to Turton from Bolton if memory serves me right but no idea where the ground is - bit of a rural district.
Turton doesnt have a railway station, the ground is a nightmare to find also they dont have floodlights so will be an early KO (assuming they are playing at their normal home ground)
Basically, from Bolton go up Tonge Moor Rd, left up Darwen Road turn right under the Railway bridge, past Bromley Cross station then follow this road for 3 or 4 miles right through Edgworth village. After passing Edgworth Cricket ground on right take a left on to a housing estate, bear round to right and park. You then have to walk up a very narrow lane to the top where there is a ginnel leading to the ground.
If thats not clear I,ll try to print a map before the date
Since posting the above I,ve been speaking to a mate who seems to think Turton MIGHT be looking for a new ground.
Last season they were badly affected by bad weather and ended up with a big backlog of home games which they played at Rossendale Utd. So the venue may be changed, no doubt we will be told nearer the time.
Why you thanking me if your not gonna be there to wear one?
By the way I was the person that beeped my horn at you outside of NatWest the other day. Still kicking myself for not beeping really loud just as I was next to you and shitting you up
