Marsh boost for Merricks

Leigh Genesis manager Lee Merricks has been handed a huge boost ahead of tomorrow's (Saturday 14th February) trip to neighbours FC United of Manchester, with the news that young striker Phil Marsh has remarkably turned down a move to the Rebels in favour of remaining with Leigh.
Twenty two year old striker Marsh, who scored his first league goal for Leigh in last weekend's 3-1 defeat to Hednesford Town having scored twice previously in cup competitions, has earned rave reviews in the nine appearances that he has made since joining Genesis in December 2008.
Rivals FC United had issued a seven day period of notice, as required by league rules, that they wished to sign Marsh in time for the two sides meeting at Gigg Lane on Saturday, but Leigh were handed a massive boost ahead of the fixture with the news that, after deliberation with his advisors, fans favourite Marsh had chosen to turn down the transfer and instead remain with Leigh.
Marsh began his career as a trainee with Manchester United but, aged seventeen years old, was the innocent victim of a car crash which saw then-Old Trafford team-mates Calum Flanagan and Mads Timm sent to a young offenders' institute. Marsh managed to recover from his injuries and was converted to a right back, making his only first team appearance for United in a Carling Cup encounter with Crewe Alexandra in 2006, before appearing in the Blue Square Premier with Northwich Victoria.

Not saying anything will happen, in fact I reckon it wont, but it doesn't seem to be as dead as it seems.

But aren't you only allowed to make one seven day approach to a single player during the course of a season? There again, I think there is a certain window for him to change his mind but I'd like to think he'll stay put.
