Leythers back in Leigh!

Home at last!

By Matt Lawton
January 14 2009

After touring the North West non-league scene since August last year, Leigh Genesis have been handed a huge boost with the news that the new Leigh Sports Village Stadium will be ready to host their UniBond Premier League fixture with neighbours FC United of Manchester on Tuesday 27th January.

The fixture with FC United will be the first time that Genesis have played a competitive fixture in the town since over 200 supporters witnessed Leigh defeating local rivals Prescot Cables in the final football game to take place at Hilton Park in September 2008.

With Saturday's home fixture with Eastwood Town taking place at Shawbridge, the home of Clitheroe FC, Genesis will have used no less than six different 'home' venues during the course of the season but, thanks to the hard work of existing club staff and potential new investors in the club, it is hoped that the 27th January fixture against FCUM will be the first of many at the impressive LSV facility.

Great news

Hope the game's advertised in next weeks Journal & Reporter.

Think a local derby like at the new stadium with prices nearly half of what the centurions are asking may attract a few more heads than a usual Genesis game

Excellent news, massive thanks to everyone involved at the club. Let's hope a new investor signs a deal pretty soon, and the LSV can be our permanent home!
