Hilton Park groundsman Malcolm Sargent is celebrating after being notified of his nomiation for the prestigous 'Groundsman of the Year' award for his year-round work in preparing the excellent playing surface for both Leigh RMI FC and Leigh Centurions RLFC.

Malcolm commented that during last season both Rugby League and FA officials
on several occasions complimented him on the condition of the playing
surface.

Leigh RMI have also paid tribute to the remarkable achievement;
club director Tony Hogan commented that “Malc does an excellent job
considering the pitch is used 52 weeks of the year by all three of our teams
and the rugby, both first team and academy team. On top of probably the
wettest summer for a long time Malcolm fully deserves the nomination and
Leigh RMI wish him good luck.”

Paul Rowley had this to say on hearing of Malcolm’s nomination. “Malc does a
great job. We have, in my opinion the best playing surface in this division”
this view is also supported by the lads who also appreciate the condition
Malc keeps the field in. Considering the use the pitch gets its condition
is a testament to his hard work”

Malcolm, along with the other nominated groundsmen, will learn their fate
shortly at the Centenary Match presentation night, taking place before the Northern Union vs. New Zealand "All Golds" rugby league representative game at Warrington Wolves' Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday 20th October.

Malcolm as been with the club for 7years and fully deserves the nomination, with which, needless to say, we wish the very best of luck.
