Steve Bruce' Backing Robbo Appointment

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce today backed Albion's decision to appointment Bryan Robson as new manager. Bruce played with Robson for Manchester United, and today said that Robson is "the ideal man for the job" Bruce told IC Birmingham: "I think a lot of people forget what he actually did at Middlesbrough, he got them to three cup finals, two promotions and put them on the road to where they are now.

"You need people's backing. But when he took over the gates had been shut at Ayre-some Park, near enough, and they were bottom of the First Division.

"He's a football man through and through and I know he will be a good acquisition for West Brom.

"The players will have instant respect for him and I'm sure they'll enjoy playing for him too because he's a 'proper' bloke."

"Even considering what he's achieved in the game, he's modest and humble, which is a great trademark, he's never forgotten where he's come from. He's a working class lad from the North East."

"He's been itching, busting a gut to get back into the game. "I'm glad to see him back. I'm delighted for him and his family - but I hope he doesn't do too well when his lot play us!"
