Former boss Gary Megson today spoke about what really happened yesterday. Megson denied that he 'resigned' from his post. In an interview with Sky Sports News, Megson also claimed that he would not be looking for another job soon as he has been placed on 'Gardening Leave' Megson told Sky Sports News: "I certainly didn't resign. In terms of being sacked, you'd have to ask other people that but I can categorically deny I resigned.

"I wrote a memo to the chairman and the rest of the board just stating that at the end of my contract, June 30 next year, I wouldn't be staying after that.

"I'm surprised but disappointed more than anything else, I wanted to stay at West Brom and see my contract through. But it's not my decision.

"I'm on gardening leave, I can't look for work. I've got to let the lawyers sort out what needs to be sorted and I want to get back to work as soon as possible.

"I'm not available for any job. The chairman phoned me at 5.30 yesterday (Tuesday) and informed me I am on gardening leave. I'm still getting paid by the club.

"I want to manage another club and to be a success as I've done with West Brom."

"I've felt for quite a few months now that all the time what was happening with my contract and my future was starting to get away from us and the real issues, the results, were always taking a back seat to my personal situation and I felt it was time to come out and say what I felt."

"I'm sure in any relationship a manager and chairman have differences. I don't want to get myself a reputation as being difficult with chairmen.

"I don't want to go into the why's and wherefore's. I haven't got a difficult relationship with anyone," said Megson, whose differences with previous Baggies chairman Geoff Thompson were widely known before the latter left his post.

"I sat down last week and tried to analyse which clubs get into trouble at the bottom of the Premiership.

"Promoted clubs need to drag someone into (the relegation equation) with problems off the field. I felt we were falling into both categories and needed to sort it out."
