Albion have today relieved manager Gary Megson of his duties after he earlier revealed that he would leave at the end of the season whether or not he was offered a contract or not. News broke earlier that Megson would leave the Hawthorns at the end of the season, and had already told Jeremy Peace that, whether or not a contract was offered, he was leaving anyway.

Megson said:"I won’t sign a new contract.

"I don’t intend to talk any more about the decision I have made.

"I have a contract until June 30 and I intend to carry on doing my job until then.

"I will give all the effort and drive that I can to succeed on behalf of the football club.

"If training is not good enough, if the results don’t go the right way I will continue to be upset about it."

News is beginning to come in that Megson has been relieved of his duties. Sky Sports News.

We would like to thank Gary Megson for everything that he has done for the club. He has almost single-handedly turned the club from relegation no-hopers, to a Premier League team.

Thank you Gary, and good luck for the future.

Was it time for him to go? Have your say!
