Di Matteo slams Refs penalty decisions

West Bromwich Albion gaffer Roberto Di Matteo has slammed the two penalty decisions made during yesterday's game with Stoke City which gave the visitors a two goal advanatage over his side.  The Baggies boss told the clubs official site that they had suffered from what he called "severe ref injustice".

Happy to admit that football can often be cruel, the Baggies gaffer spoke out in anger at the two penalty decisions given against them at the Hawthorns yesterday during their 3-0 defeat to Stoke.

The first, a 55th minute awarded penalty, was tucked away by Matthew Etherington after Scott Carson was adjudged to have brought down Kenwyne Jones in the box.  TV footage of the incident shows that there was in fact little to no contact from Carson on Jones.

Di Matteo was just as critical of the second penalty decision, netted by Jon Walters in the 85th minute after Simon Cox was penalised for a challenge on Dean Whitehead.

The first penalty had been Stoke's first on target shot of the game, after a first half of Albion pressure which they had failed to make count for anything.  Walters had grabbed his first and Stoke's second in the 85th minute with the second dubious penalty, and he finished the game off in the third minute of stoppage time with a real smash and grab effort.
