Jara loss a big blow for the Baggies

Gonzalo Jara

The news that West Bromwich Albion defender Gonzalo Jara will come as a bitter blow to boss Roberto Di Matteo, who already faces a selection headache ahead of a jam packed few weeks. The fixture pile up has not been eased by the addition of an FA Cup replay against Reading a week today, although it is possible that some of the seven faces absent from lastnight's game at Cardiff will return soon.

Jara left the field of play during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Reading in the FA Cup 5th Round.  X-Rays have since revealed that the Chile International has fractured a right foot metatarsal, and ruled him out for the remainder of the season.  He could however recover in time to play a part in Chile's World Cup campaign this summer.

Jara has made a total of 24 appearances for the Baggies this season, picking up 6 yellow cards and netting 1 goal.
