West Bromwich Albion's shirt has become something of an institution over recent years. Sported on a regular basis by TV personalities Frank Skinner and Adrian Chiles, and even tennis star Goran Ivanisevic, pictured here sporting a West Brom shirt during the warm up for a contest against Paul Haarhuis.
But in a world of corporate deals and sponsorship there can be no disputing that the most prominent feature of Albion's shirt this season has been the lack of a sponsor logo.
Fans were initially outraged that Chairman Jeremy Peace failed to secure a new sponsorship deal when the current one with T Mobile expired at the end of the 2007/08 season. No secret was made of the fact that plenty of 6 figure offers had come in - but the determined Peace was eager to hold out for a 7 figure deal. When the right deal never came along fans across the country got used to seeing the famous blue and white shirt of West Bromwich Albion untainted by a company logo.
But that now looks set to end with news that the Football League has granted special permission for the Baggies to receive sponsorship on a match by match basis.
West Brom have already sported the 'England 2018' logo this season, and are looking to strike similar deals of sponsorship for games this season, especially those which will be televised.
