Miller gets new five year deal

West Brom striker Ishmael Miller, who has been a long term absentee through injury at the Hawthorns, has signed a new five year deal at the club despite his recent injury setback not expected to end until January 2010. The 22 year old hasn't featured for the Baggies since last December, when a knee injury forced him off in a fixture against Portsmouth.

But Miller had established himself as a team player at the club long before his injury curse struck, forming a formidable strike partnership with the then leading goal scorer Kevin Phillips.

The deal, whcih will keep the former Manchester City striker at the Hawthorns until 2014, will provide Miller with the vote of confidence he has been looking for, especially as he has not had the chance to prove himself to new manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Miller's 16 goals in his first season at the Hawthorns helped the midlands club along to winning the Championship and promotion to the Premier League.  Having played little part in the top flight, Miller hopes to be back from injury in time to make an impact this season as the Baggies strive to reach the top flight once again.
