17 year old striker Chris Wood has today signed a two year professional deal with West Bromwich Albion, with the option of a further two years extension. Wood has featured just twice for the Baggies in the Premiership this season, but the club felt it was more than worth investing in the youngsters future.

He earned himself the title of New Zealand's young player of the year, and competed in their squad this year for the Confederations cup.

Wood signed for Albion in August 2007, and has now been signed on a professional contract which will keep him at the Hawthorns until at least the summer of 2011.
