Cech and Mowbray bury the hatchet

In a futile couple of weeks during which Marek Cech expressed his wishes to leave the club, manager and player seem to have buried the hatched which has been a thorn between them. Cech first expressed his wishes to exit the Hawthorns in the opening week of the transfer window, which immediately triggered a reaction from the gaffer who commented that he could be allowed to leave.

But this afternoon those issues seem to have moved closer to being resolved, even if Mowbray still cannot guarantee that Cech will stay.

The 25 year old midfielder expressed his disappointment at not playing a bigger part in Albion's season so far, and hinted that he may quit the club if he could not got regular football.  But the Slovakian admitted that his comments had been translated harshly, and that he had not intended to offend anyone at the club.

Mowbray's immediate reaction; that he would not pander to the demands of any of his players, had sparked further rumour that Cech was destined for a January move.  But both parties commented today that the air had been cleared after the media outburst.

Mowbray is hopeful that Cech will stay, but admits he cannot promise any more regular football for the player.  Cech has attracted interest from Serie A side Napoli, as well as Championship side Ipswich Town.  The manager told newspapers today that a January move is not completely out of the question if Cech still wants to leave.
