£5 million signing on way to Hawthorns?

Some sources this morning have suggested that West Bromwich Albion are about to smash their transfer record by capturing the signing of Real Mallorca's 23 year old midfielder Borja Valero. But oddly, those sources seem to be in Spain, with Real Mallorca's website claiming that the player is on his way to the Hawthorns.

It is not yet clear how accurate such reports are, but Tony Mowbray is said to have been impressed with the young midfielder after seeing his impressive substitute appearance at the Hawthorns last weekend in the friendly between the two sides.

Valero has reportedly also attracted interest from Spurs, Liverpool and Newcastle.  But Spanish news sources this morning claim that Albion have met the £5 million asking price for Valero.

Albion would hope that the prospect of regular first team football would prove to be the decider should the other named Premiership clubs renew their interest.

But Tony Mowbray was tight lipped over speculation this morning, as always stating that at this time of year many clubs are linked with many players.
