Mowbray considers Carson option

West Bromwich Albion have emerged as favourites to sign out of favour Liverpool and England keeper Scott Carson. Carson, who had been on loan at Aston Villa, had a permanent move to Villa Park thwarted after an inflated price tag put the Midlanders off as battle also commenced over the signing of Gareth Barry.

Carson is keen to leave Anfield to persue regular first team football.  The 22 year old keeper has also attracted interest from other Premiership newbees Stoke City, but is believed to favour a move to the Hawthorns because he believes they have a better chance of survival.

Carson has struggled to maintain a reputaton after a blunder against Croatia which contributed to Englands failure to qualify for Euro 2008.

It is believed the Baggies could land the young keeper for a price of £4 million, a dramatically reduced price to that being offered Villa, who were quoted £10 million.  It is thought Albion would pay £3million up front, and an additional £1 million in add ons later on.
