Hudson Kennaugh, on the Carbon Can Company Yamaha, had an eventful race at Oulton Park in the Metzeler National Superstock Championship, in a race that saw the safety car deployed on the very first lap. However he kept his head and came home in a safe seventh place securing more championship points.

“I’m happy to get some points, as I knew it would be a tough race due to where I qualified. A third row start is never ideal,” explained Kennaugh, who qualified in eleventh place. “I’ve enjoyed racing here at Oulton Park, as it is a beautiful track, but not one we have had the pace for.”

The Superstock race was action packed, with ten riders failing to finish, and although Kennaugh wanted to be further forward it could have meant getting caught up in the various smashes. “I’m disappointed not to have been closer to the front of the race action, but I’m now going to concentrate on Mondello Park instead,” he said. “Not everyone has experience of there, and it should even the playing field. If it suits the Yamaha then we will go well there.”

With this recent points haul, Kennaugh is in sixth place in the championship, and hoping to better it as the season progresses. The next round of the Metzeler National Superstock Championship will take place at Mondello Park in Ireland, on the 19th-21st May.
