Stephen Thompson this week became the third new rider to join Uel Duncan Racing for the 2006 season, with the announcement that he will campaign a 600cc Honda for the team at both the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix. This compliments Thompson’s own Superstock machine, and the 600cc bike will also be available for other meetings, like the TT and Southern 100, should the Crumlin rider decide to make his début at these events. If not, the bike will be used as a spare for the recently signed Cameron Donald and Les Shand.

The Ulster based team have also joined forces with Barron Transport Services and John Harris Motorcycles, who will supply 2006 Superstock Hondas for Shand and Donald respectively. The Barrons supported Guy Martin last year, and will extend their support to Shand for a full season of British Superstock racing, in addition to the three Internationals. Donald’s bike is also for the North West 200, TT and Ulster, whilst Shand will have this as a spare for his short circuit campaign.

Contrary to what has been reported, all of the machines will run under the Uel Duncan Racing banner, with the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock bikes all running in the yet to be announced identical colourscheme.

Speaking about the announcements, team principal and former rider Uel Duncan said:
“I’m delighted to welcome both Stephen and the new sponsors to the team, and this further strengthens our goals for the forthcoming season. We are now in a position to make a concerted attack in all classes, and at both the road and short circuits, so it’s great to have this all in place so soon. Stephen has proven himself to be a quality performer, and his signing will ensure we have three riders capable of honours in the 600cc class - whilst the support of both Barron Transport and John Harris will make sure our presence is felt in the Superstock class.”
