Uel Duncan Racing are delighted to announce that they have agreed terms with 27-year old Australian Cameron Donald for the forthcoming 2006 season. Donald was a revelation in 2005, with superb début performances at all of the International meetings. These included winning the much coveted Newcomers Trophy at the Isle of Man TT, and a sensational podium finish in the Supersport 600cc race at the Ulster Grand Prix.

The deal will see Donald have a full compliment of Superbike, Superstock and Supersport machines, focusing on the three International Road Races, where he made such an impact in 2005; The North West 200, The Isle of Man TT Races and the Ulster Grand Prix. In addition he will also contest the majority of Irish Road Races, of which he had a taste of last year after successful outings at Faugheen and the Mid Antrim.

Speaking about the deal, a delighted Donald said:
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be joining Uel’s team. From the moment I arrived in the UK last year it was clear that this was one of the most professional teams in the paddock, and more than capable of challenging the factory teams. I was well impressed with everyone’s attitude and friendliness, a fact that was completely re-iterated by Guy Martin, whom I spoke to a great deal in 2005. Obviously, I’m going to have to learn a number of new circuits but it’s a challenge I’m relishing, and having sampled some of these smaller events last year I know what it entails, and I can’t wait for the new season to come around.

“The International meetings will be my main aim and, having taken some strong finishes in 2005, I’m confident that Uel’s team will give me the best chance of improving upon those results. They’ve had success in the past and I’ve made no secret of my desire to win at the TT, so I think we can have a great 2006 together.”

Team principal Uel Duncan is naturally delighted to have signed the Aussie ace and said:
“It was obviously a blow to lose Guy, but if anyone can step into his shoes then it’s Cameron. Without doubt he’s the most exciting rider to emerge on the road racing scene, and having seen how he performed in 2005 I’m delighted, and excited, that he will be joining the team for the year ahead. He’s clearly an incredibly talented rider and I’m confident that we can give him the support and team environment he needs in order to succeed. His track record speaks for itself, and it’s terrific for myself and all of our sponsors to be in a position to secure the deal and welcome him into the team.”

The team, which will retain all the personal sponsors from 2005 including Robinson Concrete, Wilson Craig, Tullyally Car Breakers and McNair Tools, have been talking to a number of manufacturers about gaining support for the year, and also hope to secure the services of a second rider for the three International events of which an announcement is expected to be made in the forthcoming weeks.
