Rossi signs to stay with Yamaha to the end of 2008

It has been announced that Valentino Rossi has indeed signed to stay with Yamaha in motorcycle Grands Prix at least until the end of 2008.

Valentino turns 28 this month, and it came as no surprise that he would stay with Yamaha for the foreseeable future. Standing in third position as one of the greatest riders of all time, he is now facing a new era in the Grand Prix racing world, and is aiming to become the first 800cc world champion.

Having had many successes throughout his racing life - with seven world titles to his name in 125cc, 250cc and 500cc/MotoGP, he is without doubt today’s most sought after rider. Valentino’s name is well known throughout the motorcycling world, and has dominated the sport - sometimes controversially - but he has attained one of the biggest followings of fans worldwide.

Valentino said, “I am very happy that I have renewed my contract with Yamaha, and can now concentrate on the racing this season. Last year we fought back from what seemed an impossible situation to come so close in taking the title. This showed what a fantastic team we have, and this is why I wanted to stay with Yamaha. The past three years have been positive, and that is why I wanted to stay. I have great faith in Yamaha, and we are ready to challenge with the new 800cc.”
