A stunning performance in an overcast Turkey afternoon on Friday saw Ricardo Zonta take the position of pride for Toyota in Free Practice 2. The Brazilian tester set a faster time than usual fastest lap holder McLaren's Alex Wurz.

We hear however that it is worth noting that the lanky Austrian tester developed a small problem with his car in the morning which may have aided Zonta.

"It's great to have Ricardo back on top of the timesheets,"  Chief Toyota Race Engineer Dieter Gass continued, "We were a bit surprised by the lap because it was not on a brand new tyre, so that was very good."

The McLaren's came through with a mighty force to take positions 2, 3 and 4. Jenson Button looks as though he could be a direct competitor for the weekend, the Brit putting his B.A.R-Honda in 5th.

Jarno Trulli enjoyed his day, "I lost a bit of ground in the morning and early in the afternoon because I was struggling to get the tyres working properly. But as soon as we changed them the balance came in and I was able to do a more consistent long run." The Italian finished the second session in ninth.

Ralf Schumacher, who managed 16th in Friday's FP2 said, "Tyre choice will be crucial here but the car feels okay and Ricardo's lap time shows that we should be competitive here and aim for another strong result."
