A report has appeared in todays publication of Autosport that suggests that Mike Gascoyne may be Toyota bound despite his Techical Director contract being firm with Renault until 2005. Renault have yet to respond to the report. Pitpass.com first mooted the suggestion of a move last Sunday after the Austrian Grand Prix. Paddock talk suggested that Gascoyne was siding with engine specialist Jean-Jacques His' views on the future of the Renault team. Recently His parted company with Renault after a difference of opinion with current team boss Flavio Briatore. In addition the surprise performance of the R23 has lead to the Technical Director becoming well sought after up and down the grid.

So far Flavio is the only Renault person to have commented on the rumour, describing Gacoyne as "important" to the team, but this has not stopped rumours from circulating that Toyota are keen to add the Englishman to their design team alongside Gustav Brunner.
