Nick Heidfeld To Toyota In '08?

Formula 1 2007 may only be 1 race down but already the rumour mill is in strong force.

Rumours have been flying around for a whil about Toyota driver Ralf Schumacher leaving the team at the end of 2007 to join BMW-Sauber. But this time the spotlight is on BMW-Sauber's current German driver Nick Heidfeld who apparantly has attracted interest from the Toyota team.

So could we see a German seat-swap for 2008? Toyota have Jarno Trulli contracted for 3 more seasons whilst Ralf's 3-year-deal which started in 2005 comes to an end this season and rumours about the German's deaptrue to BMW-Sauber have been around for a while. Ralf drove for Williams in the years of 1999-2004 and in 2000 BMW linked up with Williams. Ralf took BMW's first win of the 21st Century at Imola 2001. Since then BMW left Williams to buy Sauber becoming BMW-Sauber and Ralf might once more be joining the German Marque in it's new adventure.

Likewise Heidfeld's contract with his current team runs out at the end of this season and there have been no suggestions that his contract with BMW-Sauber is to be renewed. Toyota have of course denied any interest in Heidfeld but it's early days and this is Formula 1 and anything can happen.
