Leigh Centurions look on the verge of signing local lad Danny Halliwell from Super League strugglers Halifax after the two clubs agreed a fee for the 22-year old centre. Leigh initially wanted to sign Halliwell on loan but Halifax said that there was "no way that that would happen" and they were ready to release Halliwell if they were sufficiently compensated, with the fee now agreed between the two clubs.
Halliwell hasn't played for the Super League's basement club since May 23rd when he sustained an injury at Wigan, and has since been working on a building site after going AWOL from the club. Halliwell was spotted at Hilton Park yesterday during the Centurions' home victory over Batley Bulldogs and now looks set to sign on the dotted line.
