Centurions halfback Pat Weisner has been rumoured to be lined up for a transfer by Super League champions St. Helens who may see him as potential replacement for departing Saints halfback Tommy Martyn who ironically may be moving in the opposite direction. Weisner has been in terrific form all season in a riproaring debut to his professional career in the British Isles. This has impressed scouts and officials from a variety of clubs but it is believed that it is Saints who have shown the most interest as it is thought they are lining him up as a potential heir to Tommy Martyn's throne.
Martyn, currently out of action nursing a bad arm injury that has dogged him for the past two seasons, was told last week that he was free to leave the Super League champions after the Knowsley Road club decided not to renew his contract after two injury ravaged seasons.
Martyn is widely known to be a keen Leigh supporter and many of the Centurions faithful would be delighted to see him make a return 'home', following in the footsteps of both his father and uncle who have represented the Hilton Park club in the past.
However, Centurions coach Paul Terzis has denied that Weisner is on his way out of the club but he is known to be a keen admirer of Irish international Martyn.
