An abysmal performance from Leigh saw them fall to a shock defeat against National League Two outfit Chorley Lynx at Victory Park this afternoon in the Arriva Trains Cup. Leigh had to contend with facing a team with several ex-Leigh players on and off the field who were determined to prove their salt to Centurions coach Paul Terzis.
The Lynx raced in to an 8-0 lead with a penalty from ex-Leigh full back Mark McCully before good play from former Oldham scrum half John Braddish sent Martin Gambles in for a Chorley try which was converted by McCully.
Leigh's performance was their worst for a very long time indeed and was of a huge disappointment for the Leigh contingent present at Victory Park.
To compound Leigh's terrible afternoon in the sun, centre Dale Cardoza was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.
