Testing at Barcelona has finally got under way, with Anthony Davidson taking the wheel of a modified 2002 BAR004 for the first time since October.
Initially testing electronics, software and sensors, Davidson notched up the fourth fastest time of the day, directly behind BAR refugee Olivier Panis' Toyota. Jaguar took the opportunity to test new team mates Antonia Pizzonia and Mark Webber, as well as the new
Cosworth V10. Cristiano da Matta partnered Olivier Panis in testing their 2003 V10 and 7-speed gearbox, with da Matta ending up two seconds behind his more experienced team mate. Ferrari took just one F2002, with Luca Badoer concentrating on tyre development with Bridgestone.
Neither Jacques Villeneuve and Jenson Button are scheduled to attend this test.
