There is finally some action on the transfer front, with the Blues aiming to bolster their squad, with the emphasis being on young midfielders.

A fortnight or so ago David Moyes said: “There isn’t likely to be much happening until July” and true to his word things are slowly cranking up.

Moyes has convinced Kevin McLeod to sign for at least another 12 months. One has to assume that Moyes has told McLeod that he is going to have a greater chance of first team football, as McLeod seemed set to drop down a division or two. But equally McLeod may have found it hard to get a deal to match that offered by the Blues, with the well-documented problems being encountered by Nationwide clubs. Moyes stated: "He did well at second division level, he just needs to show that he can step up a couple of notches and do it in the Premiership".

Moyes has followed up the McLeod deal by confirming his interest in Sean Davis. However Fulham have stated that Davis is not for sale, and that he would be out of Everton's price range if he was. If Moyes fails to get Davis he might target Charlton's Scott Parker. Both players are on the fringes of the England squad, but if either of the pair end up at Goodison let's hope they turn out better than previous arrivals from 'daaaan saaaaaf'. Bilic, Williamson, and Stephen Hughes are all past failures, though Parker's club captain Graham Stuart is a notable exception.
