Review of the action in the Welsh Prem this Wednesday. Bridgend kept up the pressure on league leaders Neath with an impressive away win at Cross Keys.

A LATE solo try by veteran No 8 Andrew Williams gave second-placed Bridgend their eighth win in their last nine games.

The win also saw Bridgend complete the double over Cross Keys, who fell to their seventh loss in eight games.

Cross Keys made a superb start, scoring a try in two minutes when centreRhodri Williams, in his first game of the season, went over for Darran Miles to convert.

Full-back Matthew Hutchings clawed back a penalty, but Keys did most of the attacking with Bridgend centre Chris Tossell making one try-saving tackle.

Miles kicked a 27th-minute penalty to restore the seven-point lead before the opposing No 8's Will Thomas and Andrew Williams received yellow cards and Huw Alford of Bridgend followed one minute later.

Thirteen-man Bridgend then scored as Ryan Howells sent Tossell racing over for Hutchings to convert just on half-time.

Play was lively with Keys attacking and Bridgend quick to counter with Rhodri Williams always looking strong for the home side.

Keys brought five replacements on in the 55th minute, but they went behind soon afterwards to a Hutchings penalty.

That was an important goal as the rain suddenly arrived, but Keys levelled when Miles placed a 68th-minute penalty.

Keys had to bring on centre Dan Dark at scrum-half when replacement James Pizey was injured and Bridgend were now finishing the stronger.

With five minutes left, Andrew Williams suddenly raced clear to win the game for Bridgend, although Hutchings failed with a conversion.
