Darth Moffett announced the inevitable yesterday when he announced the Celtic Warriors were to close down and be liquidated with imediate effect.

What Moffett Said:

"The staff were the first to be told the news that the Celtic Warriors had been placed into liquidation. I would like to thank the players and the staff for their efforts on behalf of the Warriors over the past season.

"While it is a regrettable decision, the company is not in a position to continue. The creditors far outweigh the debtors and there is simply no money left in the company with which to continue paying the wages of the staff."

What Samuels Said In Reply:

"They've liquidated a vibrant and solvent region full of quality players that would have played in the Heineken Cup next season," said Samuel.

"I'm very disappointed we've reached this stage because we've put so much effort in over the last year and we would have started next season with everything to play for."

What A Player Said:

"I would normally have received my monthly payment by now. I guess in terms of money owed for May we are in the same boat as all the other creditors."

Summing up the feelings among the Warriors players, he said, "To be honest, we all knew the region was gone a while back. Everyone had accepted that.

"So there was a sense of inevitability about hearing it confirmed."

He continued, "There is still a question to be asked, though, about why the region wasn't put out to tender for other people to bid for.

"There seems to be an attitude that no one would have come in for it. But you don't know unless you ask."

What A Fan (Zippy) Says:

Firstly I would perhaps like to be a little childish and pick holes in what David Moffett said

If the debtors are more than the creditors, the company has more money due to it than it owes to other people, ie it is still solvent. Therefore any winding up of the company would have been voluntary and not compulsary.

So Darth Moffett did it because they wanted to, not because they needed to.

Secondly, why do we still have to hear what LS has to say for himself, basically he has sold us down the river and made an attempt to save face but we all know what you did.

Your constant rants and moans ruined any chance that this region had of suceeding in the first year.

Thirdly the player, I cannot believe that they have not been paid, the WRU are a disgrace, do they realise that these players have mortgages and bills to pay? They knew the money was not going to go in and should of stepped in but once again they fail to do there job.

The player then says what all of us are thinking.

In conclusion as the title of the story says

"The Battle is lost, now for the War"

Don't let people tell you the Warriors are over, we are not. Continue to fight and protest to the WRU, fan power is a strong medium, the strongest in the game when put to full use. If the WRU do not have the support of the fans then the leader must go.
