Rugby Roma vs. Pontypridd

    Pontypridd begin their assault on the Parker Pen Cup with an away trip to Rome this Saturday afternoon. They face a Rome side that has lost all 3 of its Italian Super 10 games this season against Rovigo, Viadana and Overmach Parma. 

    Ponty will not be expecting them to mount a serious challenge however, whenever you are playing in Italy you can slip up. Roma have four international players in their squad and will be looking to improve on last seasons poor showing in the Parker Pen Shield where they lost all of their matches. 

    Lynn Howells has opted to rotate the squad with the return leg at Sardis Road in a weeks time influencing his decision. Loosehead prop Neil Hennessey will have his first opportunity to start a competitive match in the Ponty jersey, taking over from Gethin Jenkins and other players recalled to the side include Jason Lewis, Gareth Baber and Dale McIntosh in place of Sonny Parker, Paul John and Robert Sidoli respectively.
